Our Story
It started with a question on a lake
Michael Trotter, M.D.Board-certified urologist, Midtown Urology, Austin. Developed KSPtabs.
On a hot summer day in 2012, Dr. Trotter was on Lake McQueeney with friends when one of them, a longtime kidney stone patient, asked the question that started all of this.
"You need to make this easy for me. What can you give me that I can easily do to reduce my risk of forming kidney stones?"
He already knew the answer in medical terms: more fluid, and citrate to change the urine chemistry that lets stones form. The problem was that the prescription version, large potassium citrate pills several times a day, was something most of his patients quit within months. So he set out to build a version people would keep taking: the minerals that matter, pressed into a tablet that dissolves in water, tastes good, and lives in a tube you can carry anywhere. He still practices at Midtown Urology in Austin, and KSPtabs is still a small, family-run company based there.
