Our Story
It started with a question on a lake
Michael Trotter, M.D.Board-certified urologist, Midtown Urology, Austin. Developed KSPtabs.
On a hot summer day in 2012, Dr. Trotter was on Lake McQueeney with friends when one of them, a longtime kidney stone patient, asked the question that started all of this.
"Why don't you invent something I can easily take every day to support my kidney health?"
He already knew the basics in medical terms: more fluid, and citrate to support healthy urine chemistry. The problem was that the prescription version, large potassium citrate pills several times a day, was something most of his patients quit within months. So he set out to build a version people would keep taking: the minerals that matter, pressed into a tablet that dissolves in water, tastes good, and lives in a tube you can carry anywhere. He still practices at Midtown Urology in Austin, and KSPtabs is still a small, family-run company based there.

Michael Trotter, M.D., a board-certified urologist at Midtown Urology in Austin, Texas, who still practices and still treats kidney stone patients. He built it for his own patients first.
Do I need a prescription?
No. KSPtabs is an over-the-counter supplement. If you're on prescription potassium citrate, talk with your doctor before changing anything, and use a 24-hour urine test to see the effect.
