OTC alkali agents to raise urine pH and citrate excretion: a randomized crossover study.
Ten healthy adult volunteers participated in a randomized crossover protocol comparing KSPtabs to placebo. Median urinary citrate increased from 597 to 797 mg/day (+33%) and urine pH from 6.46 to 6.86 (+0.40), both p=0.037. Limitation: small healthy-volunteer sample; no stone recurrence endpoint was evaluated.
