New research confirms
Water alone isn't enough
In the 2026 PUSH trial, 1,658 stone formers were randomized to an intensive hydration program or usual care. Despite a modest rise in urine output, the program did not significantly reduce symptomatic stone recurrence — underscoring that hydration counseling alone often isn't enough. KSPtabs pair that hydration with the citrate and alkali shown to improve stone-relevant urine chemistry.

Complementary & alternative medicine use in kidney stone formers — Urology (Gold Journal), 2021
An independent, prospective study of CAM use in first-time and recurrent stone formers found KSPtabs led in alkalinizing agents, with alkali content per serving comparable to commonly prescribed citrate therapy.

OTC alkali agents to raise urine pH & citrate — Journal of Urology, 2021
In a prospective crossover study in healthy adults, KSPtabs raised urinary citrate (597 → 797 mg/day, p=0.037) and urine pH (6.46 → 6.86, p=0.037), with a non-significant decrease in ammonium (41 → 34 mmol/day, p=0.059).

Which patients benefit
Recurrent calcium stone formers seeking added urinary citrate.
Hypocitraturia — low urinary citrate on 24-hour collection.
Uric acid stones & low urine pH where alkalinization helps.
Gout / urate patients who benefit from a higher urine pH.
Chronically low urine volume or poor fluid intake.
Can't tolerate or afford prescription potassium citrate.
How it works
Mechanism & daily use
Daily use
Dissolve
Drop one effervescent tablet into 8–12 oz of water or a favorite beverage.
Drink daily
The recommended dose is 2–3 tablets daily (30–45 mEq); the practice evaluation used about 3 daily.
Stay consistent
The body doesn't store these minerals, so daily intake sustains the benefit.
Three flavors — Key Lime, Very Berry & Sunrise Citrus — combine into six profiles. See the supplement facts panel below for serving details.
Formulation
Key minerals & ingredients
Potassium Citrate 5 mEq
A potent inhibitor of urinary crystal formation. Added dietary citrate supports a normal urinary pH and reduces calcium crystal saturation.
Magnesium Citrate 5 mEq
Binds to oxalate in the urine and supports healthy urine parameters alongside citrate.
Vitamin B6 P-5-P
Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate Monohydrate, a well-absorbed form of B6 that may help lower urinary oxalate and support overall wellness.
Bicarbonate 5 mEq
A potent alkalinizing agent, like citrate, shown to support reduced calcium crystal formation.

Why it works for patients
Why KSPtabs?
KSPtabs are effervescent tablets combining potassium citrate, magnesium citrate, B6, and sodium bicarbonate — 15 mEq of alkalinizing agents per tablet, or 30–45 mEq/day at the recommended 2–3 tablets. These minerals help balance urinary chemistry and reduce calcium crystal saturation. Because the body doesn't store them, daily consumption supports ongoing kidney health.
They also promote hydration, a key part of any stone-prevention plan. Water alone gets boring; KSPtabs come in three all-natural flavors that dissolve easily in water or a favorite beverage, making daily fluid intake something patients look forward to.
Prescription regimens can cost patients over $300/month and have notoriously low compliance — a common complaint is that plain water is flavorless and bloating. A KSPtabs subscription runs as little as 83¢/day, delivering the citrate patients need in a refreshing drink that keeps them hydrated and their kidneys flushed.
Questions
Provider FAQ
How is this different from prescription potassium citrate?
KSPtabs delivers citrate alongside magnesium and bicarbonate in a low-sodium effervescent tablet that dissolves in water — so patients get the supplement and the hydration that's central to stone prevention in one step. It addresses the cost and adherence hurdles that limit prescription potassium citrate, and as a dietary supplement, patients can start without a pharmacy fill.
What does it cost the patient?
A subscription runs as little as 83¢/day — compared with prescription potassium citrate, which can exceed $300/month.
What's in it, and what's the dose?
Each tablet delivers 15 mEq of alkalinizing agents — potassium citrate, magnesium citrate, and sodium bicarbonate — plus Vitamin B6. The recommended 2–3 tablets daily provide 30–45 mEq. Low-sodium, all-natural, and available in three flavors.
These are dietary supplements — how can I trust them?
- Our products are made in the USA and produced with cGMP standards as regulated by the FDA.
- Our products are produced at the same manufacturing sites as other prescription and OTC medications.
- Independent, third-party lab testing is used for verification post-production to ensure that products are free from contamination and that our labeling claims are met.
Who should use caution?
Because KSPtabs contains potassium, patients with advanced kidney disease or those taking potassium-sparing medications should consult their physician before use.
